Papilio
Perga Flat Decal paper.
Do
not confuse this paper with our "pre" coated decal PAS paper.
Instructions
for the PPF paper:
1 You do NOT have to print a mirror image
on the PPF paper as is required using the PAS paper. First
adjust the contrast and colors and print/copy on regular
paper. If you are using an ALPS printer, select specially
coated paper and multi pass black. When the test print looks
OK, then print on the PPF paper.
2) Now use the Decal solution to coat
your print-out (the decal) using the foam pad, also included
in the kit.
a) Dip the foam pad in the Decal film
and prime it on a flat clean surface. When the foam pad
gives you an even imprint, go over the decal (your print
out). Then use one of the edges of the foam pad and drag
it over the solution just applied to make it THIN and EVEN.
If the decal solution is too thick, thin with turpentine.
- IMPORTANT
It may be useful or even necessary to spray the decal
(the image) with clear fixative or clear spray especially
if you are using a laser printer or copier. This will
prevent you from messing up the printed image when you
"drag" the clear film over the printed image using the
foam pad. The Alps image is much more resistant,
but going back and forth over it with the pad will eventually
make a mess. Try to accomplish this coating in one stroke.
b) It is important to apply as thin of
a decal film as possible. If you apply this film too thick
it will not dry or will take a long time to dry.
c) Let the decal film dry for at least
24 hours.
d) Use turpentine to clean up tools and
spills.
e) Discard the foam pads after each use.
f) In case the application looks rough
or hammered, don’t worry about it. This solution takes hours
to dry and in the end it will look smooth and even. Just
remember the most important thing is to apply the solution
thin and even.
3) To apply the decal:
a) Cut out the image with scissors. Dip
in warm water (not hot). The paper will roll up and then
straighten out again. When the film starts to loosen from
the paper, line the paper piece up with the surface to be
decorated. Let the decal slide off the edge of the paper.
Touch the surface in the correct location. Then slide the
paper from under the decal.
b) Now use the decal rubber squeegee provided
in the kit to work out the air bubbles.
4) When the decal is dry and in place
on the surface you can apply more decal solution over it,
but remember to apply only a thin film. You can also spray
over the image using a fixative spray available at most
hobby stores. This will also make the decal stick better
to the surface.
5) As the film is transparent (not white),
white will only appear on white surface, or white paint
must be applied to the surface first. One model of the ALPS
printers can print white.
Note: 1)
This paper will NOT work with ink-jet printers. 2) This
is NOT a heat release paper and can not be used to decorate
T-shirts. 3) Do not attempt to copy or print on sheets of
PPF paper you have already cut holes in or cut pieces off.
This can cause paper jams and possible damage to your equipment.
4) For best paper economy arrange images that fit on the
whole sheet, print onto regular paper to test, and then
print onto the whole surface of the PPF paper the first
time. 5) This paper has not been tested on high speed industrial
type copiers/printers.
Even though this paper
has been tested in most late model office copiers and laser
printers the user must determine the compatibility of this
paper with his own equipment. In some cases, if the paper
jams and stays in contact with the hot fusing roll, (in
a copier or laser printer) damage can occur.
In case of paper jam, REMOVE the PPF paper
immediately.
